Types of Alopecia
Alopecia Totalis- starts with small, round patches or hair loss & progresses until there is total scalp hair loss.
Alopecia Universalis- all body hair is lost.
Androgentic Alopecia- also known as male-pattern baldness; it can occur in both men and women.
Alopecia Areata- people experience the sudden or sometimes unrecognized falling out of hair in patches or spots.
Postpartum Alopecia- is temporary hair loss experienced at the end of pregnancy. So experience sudden & excessive shedding three to nine months is delivery.
Traction Alopecia- is the most common balding disorder among young women & girls with highly textured hair. Traction baldness occurs when the hair is pulled too tight. The hair is literally pulled out of the follicle, taking out the hair root and bulb. If the tight pulling continues over a long period of time, permanent scarring or balding will develop.
