HARD WATER ON NATURAL HAIR

What is Hard water?  It’s water that has high mineral content, is formed when water percolates through deposits of limestone & chalk, which are made up of calcium and magnesium.

These are some of the signs you may have hard water & what it's doing to your hair:
  • Hard water on your hair can cause colored treated hair to fade quicker.
  • The minerals in hard water reduce the ability of shampoo to lather.
  • It elevated PH levels in the hair shaft by causing it to swell and the cuticle layers to lift more than normal.
  • Over time it will also lead to hair breakage
  • Hair is unmanageable
  • Hair feels rougher & dryer than normal

If you live in an area that has hard water, be sure to get a filter shower head to help filter out the minerals.  Also, add a Cleating shampoo that is designed to remove hard water to your hair regimen to help with removing the build-up of the minerals.  Your hair will thank you!
