How To Maintain Crochet Braids

Before you get your crochet braids install, make sure to shampoo & deep condition hair.  Crochet braids can last 4-6 weeks depending on the person hair texture, finer hair textures may not last as long.  Leaving style for longer than 8 weeks can cause increase breakage on natural hair.
  • Wear a satin scarf or bonnet at bedtime to help keep your hair looking nice.
  • If you have long crochet braids make sure to put hair in a jumbo twist to prevent hair from matting up.  If you have Marley crochet braids put hair in pineapple to prevent curls from getting smashed.
  • Moisture your scalp a few times a week so that your natural hair don't become dry.  You can mix of leave-in conditioner and water.  Spritz the scalp in between the cornrows on your hair.
  • You can wash your crochet braid hairstyle, dilute shampoo & water in spray water bottle.  Spray the scalp mixture in between the cornrows on your hair.  Gently massage scalp to remove dirt & product buildup from the scalp.  Rinse hair then sprays the leave-in conditioner mix on your scalp.  You can also use a dry shampoo to cleanse the scalp.
  • DO NOT comb or brush crochet braids, finger detangle hair if you have any matting or tangles.  If the ends of the hair are tangling a lot, you can also cut the tangles or knots with scissors.
  • DO NOT spray any wig spray or any other wig products on crochet hair.  To help bring your curls back to life use Mousse or Hawaiian silky 14-1.  For crochet Marley hair I wouldn't use these products for that type of hair.
  • You can also swim in your crochet braids chlorine & salt water no a problem.  Make sure to shampoo hair after these activities.

How to Remove Crochet Braids:
  • Cut crochet braids halfway, do not cut close to the base of the braids.  You could either comb them to remove the crochet braids or pull by the knot to remove.
  • Be sure to shampoo with a clarifying shampoo to help get all the product build up of scalp, followed by a moisturizing shampoo, deep condition & get a trim.
